1. Information we collect
We collect account and profile information you provide when you create or manage an account, including name, email address, password or authentication method, profile settings, workspace membership, role, preferences, and support communications.
When you buy a subscription, credits, top-ups, or other paid features, payment information is processed by our payment providers. We receive billing records such as plan, renewal, transaction, invoice, balance, and payment-status information. We do not store full payment card numbers.
We collect the content you provide to Companion and the content Companion generates for you, including messages, prompts, responses, uploaded files, images, audio, voice transcripts, generated artifacts, apps, routines, memory entries, project files, and metadata about those items.
When you ask Companion to use a computer, browser, terminal, connector, extension, or other tool, we process the information needed to perform that task. This may include screenshots, page contents, URLs, clicks, scrolling, typing, form entries, file names, file contents you authorize, shell commands, command output, generated code, task logs, tool-call records, and status events.
Companion may operate in cloud sandboxes, local desktop helpers, browser extensions, or third-party computing environments. These environments may create temporary files, logs, previews, and artifacts while completing your request.
When you connect a third-party service, such as email, calendar, storage, messaging, code hosting, browser, desktop, MCP, or other tools, Companion receives the information you authorize that service to share. We use that information to complete your requested actions and maintain the connection. You can disconnect supported connectors from Companion or from the third-party service.
We collect technical information about your device and use of Companion, including IP address, device type, browser, operating system, app version, crash logs, performance logs, session events, feature usage, approximate location inferred from IP address, and diagnostic information.
We use cookies, local storage, pixels, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, measure product usage, prevent fraud, understand marketing performance, and improve the service. Where required, we provide controls for optional cookies and marketing technologies.
When you send feedback, report a bug, contact support, or rate a response, we collect the information you submit and related context needed to understand and resolve the issue.
2. How we use information
We use information to provide, operate, personalize, and maintain Companion; process chat messages, files, voice, images, memory, routines, projects, apps, and agent tasks; run tools and connectors at your direction; operate permissions, approvals, and Autopilot controls; authenticate users and protect accounts; process billing, subscriptions, credits, invoices, refunds, and fraud checks; provide customer support; debug, monitor, secure, and improve the service; detect abuse and security incidents; send service notices and permitted marketing; comply with law; enforce our Terms; and create aggregated or de-identified data that does not identify you.
3. AI providers, model improvement, and training
Companion uses third-party AI providers and infrastructure providers to generate responses, run agents, classify requests, create images or audio, process files, and operate the service. We send these providers the information needed to complete your request and require them to process it under their applicable terms and data-protection commitments.
We do not use your private chats, files, connector data, computer activity, browser activity, or voice content to train foundation models unless you opt in or explicitly submit that content for feedback, testing, or model-improvement purposes. We may use de-identified or aggregated usage information, safety signals, feedback, and performance data to improve Companion.
Third-party AI providers may process your content to provide the service. Their processing depends on the feature, model, provider, account type, and settings used for the request.
4. How we share information
We share information only as needed with service providers; AI and compute providers; third-party services you connect; workspace or project administrators; other users when you share chats, publish apps, invite teammates, or direct Companion to disclose information; legal, safety, and compliance recipients; parties involved in a business transfer; and professional advisors.
We do not sell personal information for money. Some privacy laws define sale or sharing broadly to include certain advertising or analytics practices. Where those laws apply, we provide required notices and choices.
5. Retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide Companion, maintain your account, comply with law, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent abuse, maintain security, and keep appropriate business records.
Account and billing records are retained while your account is active and as needed for legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, and dispute-resolution purposes. Chats, files, memories, routines, projects, and generated artifacts are retained until you delete them, your account is deleted, or the applicable retention setting expires, subject to backups and legal exceptions.
Temporary computer, browser, sandbox, or preview environments are retained while needed to provide the feature, resume active work, debug failures, maintain security, or comply with law. Logs and security records are retained for operational, security, fraud-prevention, and debugging purposes. Aggregated or de-identified information may be retained without time limit where it no longer identifies you.
6. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location and account type, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, object to, or withdraw consent for certain processing of your personal information.
You can update account information and preferences, delete supported chats, files, memories, and artifacts, disconnect supported third-party connectors, change supported permission and approval settings, opt out of marketing emails, and request account deletion.
To make a privacy request, contact us at team@companion.ai or use supported controls in the product. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. Some information may be retained where required or permitted by law.
7. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No online service is perfectly secure. You are responsible for protecting your account credentials, reviewing connected services, and using approvals carefully when allowing Companion to act on your behalf.
8. Children
Companion is not directed to children under 13. Users under 18 must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. Certain paid, workspace, computer-use, connector, or autonomous-agent features require users to be at least 18.
9. International transfers
We and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Companion changes. We will post the updated policy and update the effective date. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice where required.
